UN News and World Report college rankings 2011, best colleges & universities. Harvard edges Princeton for No. 1 spot
Once again Harvard came to the top of U.S. News & World Report rank list. The world famous university has been on the top for last two consecutive terms. Harvard edged the major academic rival Princeton in the new edition "national university rankings" list too.
This year Harvard stands alone at the top of the list while it had to share No. 1 spot with Princeton Last year. On the remaining spots Yale University came at No. 3 followed by Columbia while Stanford and Penn tied at No. 5.
The rank list released Tuesday spotted the University of Chicago at No. 9 and Northwestern University at No. 12 while the University of Illinois came at No. 47. Many of the public universities were listed beyond hundred.
Meanwhile, magazine listed some “Tier 2” institutes among national universities namely Northern Illinois University and Trinity International University in Deerfield. Williams College in Massachusetts won the title of the top national liberal arts school for second time. Three Illinois schools are called as the institutes offering "best values."
The reaming list is as follows; Illinois Institute of Technology No. 111; Loyola University Chicago No. 117; DePaul University No. 136; the University of Illinois at Chicago No. 143; Illinois State University No. 156; and Southern Illinois University-Carbondale No. 183.
