Snow storm East Coast to intensify: blizzard like condition expected
8 February, 2010
Washington DC: Snow storm East Coast to intensify: blizzard like condition expected. Chicago could be the next target of blizzard. The National Weather Service has confirmed that chances are high that the city could be inundated with eight to 12 inches of snow. The weathermen forecast that the winter storm may lash the city. It will end on Tuesday night.
To avoid any incident, the government has issued a winter storm warning. According to the National Weather Service snow storm would envelop the city.
“The storm is going to be a little bit of an unusual snow storm because of the long duration that’s expected,” Izzi said. Late Tuesday will be the time when the city will be mostly affected.
Weathermen have predicted that the worst weather condition will hit the city on Tuesday. It is expected that Chicago will face six hours of northeasterly winds.
Izzi made it clear that the snowstorm in Chicago has nothing to do with blizzard that lashed the northeast.
“Vicious” winds will sweep into the area with 40 miles-per-hour Tuesday night. And it will stay in the area till Wednesday morning. This unusual condition may lead to “blizzard-like conditions” for the Chicago area, Izzi said. However, the city is all prepared to battle the atrocious weather.
