San Jose Sharks trounce Minnesota Wild 5-2

31 January, 2010

San Jose trounced the Minnesota Wild 5-2. The main contribution came from two players Rookie Jason Demers and Patrick Marleau.

Both of them scored two goals each.

The match that was watched by hundreds of fans had some ups and downs. Forward Joe Pavelski did his best. He added a single tally to team’s record.

Goalie Evgeni Nabokov also played an important role in the win. He improved his record to 31-7-9. In the game he allowed three goals. Otherwise most of the chances were frustrated by him. He defended well. Despite his stellar performance, Wild forwards Owen Nolan and Cal Clutterbuck succeeded in scoring goals. But it didn’t make any difference to the final tally.

The Sharks game was appreciated by critics and fans. They played to a set plan. They were firm in executing their game plan. Five goals from San Jose changed the whole game.

Interestingly, Demers and another rookie, Derek Joslin, were sent to the field as a replacement. After Dan Boyle suffered an injury the management had no option left then to press these two into action. Marc-Edouard Vlasic was also not in good physical condition. His injury finished his game streak at 253. The team was reshuffled at the last moment and it worked well on the field.
