New York: Runaway Toyota prius: Toyota counter attack fails as runaway prius renders their attack meaningless. In replay to an academic's arguments that Toyota cars are affected with an electronic glitch, the Japanese car maker has brought out a panel of experts to debunk the claims.
Mr. David Gilbert,a professor at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale has raised claims that Toyota cars' acceleration problem was related with an electronic failure based on a study. Gilbert argued that he can produce evidences for an electrical glitch with Toyotas.
Answering to Gilbert, another academician and director of the Center for Automotive Research at Standford University, Chris Gerdes said that his study contained no evidences at all to prove an electrical fault. Mathew Schwall, another expert engineer in automotive industry also blamed Gilbert's claims calling an unrealistic manipulation.
Toyota spokesman, Mike Michaels who introduced the experts panel also declined the charges of an electronic failure to Toyota cars.
From the start of this year, Toyota has been undergoing the worst days in its history. The company had to recall millions of its certain brands due to an unintended acceleration problem. Its fire has not still wholly burnt out. The company has to testify at a string of Congressional review meets, took place to investigate safety concerns.
In result, through the last two months, the world's largest car maker's stocks have plunged 13 percent, sales rates at the U.S. went down 12.4 percent. As of now, the car-maker will take long time to recover its lost image, especially in an occasion where cars underwent Toyota's fix are once again founded sustaining former defects.
