Runaway Prius: Runaway Toyota Prius was speeding at 90kmph when stopped

9 March, 2010

Los Angeles: Runaway Prius: Runaway Toyota Prius was speeding at 90kmph when stopped. If Toyota needed any proof of how its cars can get unintended acceleration and the failure of gas pedal it came live. A 911 call was made by a driver who was driving his Toyota Prius on an inter state route.

His brakes weren’t working and his Prius was picking speed itself and when he called 911 his car’s speed was crossing 90 miles an hour.

This must be the worst publicity that the world’s foremost car manufacturer can get at this time of crisis when its chairman and other officials are facing the heat in leading countries of the world.

Till yesterday they were talking of taking stern action against the experts who were saying that the car’s electronic systems were faulty. But now they were given live demonstration as to what it can do to a user.

Toyota that has said that it will send an expert to see as to what caused the sudden acceleration, they said that the company was not sure, if Mr Sikes took his car for recall servicing.

A police official who was sent to track him tracked him after around half an hour within the call and helped him slow down and then stop his car.
