Los Angeles: Runaway Prius: Runaway Toyota Prius brings to fore brake and acceleration defect in Toyota cars. A man escaped uninjured when his Toyota Prius acceleration went on of control and the vehicle sped away with brakes not working. He was lucky that he could be saved without any injuries.
But this only highlights the problems in Toyota cars that have reached out of control now. The company is being accused of neglecting safety features, so important for car owners.
Transport Secretary Ray Lahood’s comment that people shouldn’t use their recalled Toyota cars before they get it fixed at any Toyota authorized service centre.
Toyota’s latest high end car Prius that the company projected as its future face is now facing the heat.
After initially not being included in the list of recalled cars, it has now recalled around four million Prius cars.
The company called the product as the benchmark for cars of the future and claimed that the Prius has delivered superior fuel economy and ultra-low emissions to more than one million owners worldwide for more than 10 years.
The company says that the midsize third-generation 2010 Prius offers even better mileage ratings, enhanced performance, and innovative design features. It will be quieter, roomier, and equipped with advanced standard and available features such as a moonroof with solar panels, four driving modes, Intelligent Parking Assist (IPA) and steering wheel touch controls that display on the instrument panel.
A report says that more than hundred drivers in the US have complained about the brakes in the all New Prius 2010.
