Washington: Presidential palace destroyed in Port au Prince earthquake: Haiti earthquake 2010, tsunami feared. Port au Prince, the Haitian capital has been left without Presidential Palace and many government buildings. The earthquake has destroyed much of the capital of this very poor nation.

The number of casualties are expected to be very high as people search through the rubbles of the destroyed buildings. With many people saying that not much has been spared by the powerful earthquake, it will take time and expertise to pull out injured people and retrieve

International organizations will have to play a big role in the relief and reconstruction of the island nation as the country does not have enough resources to rebuild itself.

Significant damage to life and property is expected in Haiti earthquake that toppled a large number of buildings in Port au Prince, the Haitian capital. Some reports said there were more flattened buildings that the ones that remain standing.

People are frantically searching for survivors under the rubble. And with much of the Haiti affected by earthquake, it is a tall order.

International community will have to chip in a big way to help affected Haitian population rendered homless. Much of the city was in tatters with almost all basic services collapsing throughout the country.

Electricity polls had collapsed, causing almost a nationwide electricity outage.

There is fear that many of the top government officials may have been killed by te most powerful earthquake in its history. Reports suggest that many important government buildings including the Presidential Palace have been razed to the ground.

Aftershocks, many of them very strong continue to rattle this island nation, poorest in the region.
