LOS ANGELES: Oscar nominations 2010: Oscar's TV ratings will be higher this year. The Oscar was telecast live. Hundreds of thousands of viewers across the world tuned in to their television sets to see their stars and films win the prestigious awards. TV experts are of the opinion that this would help Oscar to penetrate in new regions.

Though 2009 was not a good year for films due to global economic meltdown, but some films, like 3-D blockbuster Avatar did a fantastic job. It was a great hit not only in America but in other parts of the world. A lot of new movie made it into the final lists to the surprise of many experts.

Besides, the Academy for the first time doubled the nominations in the field for best picture. Experts say that this will have a positive impact on the popularity of the Oscars.

Executives at the Oscars are working overtime to popularize it. Besides, they are looking at commercial angle also. Its official poster carries the posters of its two co-hosts Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.

Above all, the show was a huge success on televisions. Insiders say that many producers of popular networks would learn lesson from CBS' success with the Grammy Awards on Sunday.
