Obama to build on Cairo speech in Indonesia -- White House
11 March, 2010
WASHINGTON, March 11 (KUNA) -- President Barack Obama will continue his outreach to the Muslim world when he visits Indonesia later this month, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said on Thursday.
"The President will build off the speech he gave in Cairo (last June)," Gibbs said, noting that Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world. Obama also will attend a democracy conference in Indonesia, and "will highlight counterterrorism," Gibbs said. "That is the focus of the trip." Obama spent several years in Indonesia as a boy.
He is scheduled to depart next Thursday for a trip that will include a visit to Australia.
