Numbers on Facebook status of profile and Facebook cartoon profile pic. Facebookers swap cartoon characters for their normal profile images for anti-child abuse campaign
Facebookers have in huge numbers changed their profile images with cartoon characters of their childhood days. This trend is set by some anonymous sources to raise awareness on child-abuse. It is not yet clear who is behind the Facebook cartoon profile campaign.
Even though, several Facebookers have swapped their favorite cartoon characters for their normal profile images. People have embraced the trend with much enthusiasm to express their solidarity with international strive against violence over children.
A Facebook page that promotes the campaign wants Facebook members to change their profile images for two reasons. For the first time it is to go back to their childhood memories and the second cause, is of course, for the sake of child communities across the globe.
“Until Monday (Dec. 6), there should be no human faces on Facebook but an invasion of memories. This is for eliminating violence against children,” the Facebook page on the campaign says.
However, mystery behind the Facebook campaign’s origins hesitated many Facebookers from joining it. Several critics of the ongoing campaign have so far expressed their doubts over the campaign’s genuineness. Many suggested that campaign might have a reverse outcome than advertised, because it is potted by some pedophiles.
“Yeah...like this is gonna help end violence against children...” one Facebookers asked. Another Facebooker surprisingly asked how a Facebook profile image change and violence over children can be linked. Whatever are the effectiveness and trustworthiness of the campaign, it is a fact that the campaign is catching on.
