New York: Johnson & Johnson recalls Tylenol: Tylenol recall 2009 Tylenol liver damage, image affected. McNeil Consumer Healthcare has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. A subsidiary of leading multinational company that produces toiletry products as well as some drugs, Johnson and Johnson it has been mired in controversy over recall of over the counter drug Tylenol and a few other products.
Being called as the largest recall in the history of medicine, the company has tried to give itself full credit for the recall.
It has shown no sign that it was pinned down by US Food and Drug Administration to recall Tylenol products that had badly affected many people across the country.
Though the problem was not as bad as the company had faced in the eighties, but its response too was not as prompt or welcome as it was at that time.
It had at that time voluntarily recalled all the products that were thought to have some side affects.
This time, though it acted only when it was handed over a stinging criticism by FDA. It was rather forced to recall. Voluntary recall is the wrong word for Tylenol recall this time.
