Hurricane Earl projected path: category 4 storm may hit long Island. Hurricane Earl hitting across Atlantic

Hurricane Earl had brushed past the northern Virgin islands eon Monday. In is again expected to roar past the Charleston area, kicking up gusty winds and waves that could crest at 8 feet, while worsening dangerous rip currents already tearing at area beaches.

Some analysts feel that 135-mph Earl to turn more north, then northeast, away from the U.S. coast. However the time is expected to be dangerous during that particular period. Richard Pasch, a hurricane specialist at the center in West Miami-Dade said, “We feel more comfortable down here than they would up in the Mid-Atlantic States.”

He also added that the atmospheric currents steering Earl are miscalculated by some old computers, with a subtropical high-pressure ridge proving more persistent than expected in pushing Earl west.

According to Associated Press, Earl caused power outages, flooding as well as damaged homes on Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla and St. Maarten.

The National Weather Service said that Earl can deteriorate rip currents. With such an incident swimming conditions may also be caused.
