HTC Droid Eris Update: Verizon confirms Droid Eris will not receive Froyo. After a long waiting HTC Droid Eris owners get a bad news from carrier, Verizon. The gadget will not get much awaited Froyo. It was rumored that Verizon will roll the advanced Android software from Google to HTC Droid Eris sooner than later. But, the carrier put a full stop to rumors and declined the release.
Although, most of Droids received the advanced update, Froyo HTC Droid Eris owners will have to satisfy with the older version. HTC Droid Eris was released along with the milestone gadget, Droid original. But even after the Froyo update has shipped to Droid Incredible Eris remains abandoned.
However, analysts question why Eris lost this update. They say the fate of Droid Eris was fixed when Verizon stopped selling the device earlier this summer. And a break to the running gadget phone's can be seen as company's decision to denying it the Froyo upgrade, analysts noted.
Meanwhile, a Verizon spokesman confirmed the matter saying “We will not be updating the Eris to 2.2 because our device portfolio evolves and changes constantly."
By this negation Eris owners will miss stunning features including Flash, Bing and more offered by Froyo. If the Android 2.2 upgrade gets to Eris it will also provide faster Web browsing, voice dialing over Bluetooth, and other features. But Verizon has to roll the Android 2.2 to a lot of users, and the process could take a few days to reach everyone.
