Google Android Honeycomb or Android 3.3 release date, merely 2 days left. Android 3.0, also called Honeycomb, is the Android version developed especially for tablets and now Google is trying to lure developers into working for this. It si scheduled to be unveiled officially this Wednesday.
Some vendors like Motorola have already demostrated their phones running on Honeycomb. It is aimed at application developers
Honeycomb boasts a new holographic user interface and an action bar that enables users to control their apps and connectivity features. The new OS is compatible with apps of earlier generations of Android and also offers expanded features for app developers. It can run on both single or multicore processors.
Honeycomb’s browser has tabs instead of windows and also allows incognito browsing. It offers multitouch support to JavaScript and plug-ins.
Targeting international market, the Honeycomb contacts app boasts better formatting of international phone numbers as user types based on home country and an international number parsing library. Its administration applications support encrypted storage, password expiration and password history.
Besides making interaction, navigation and customization available to all apps, even those built for earlier versions of Android, it also has built-in support for Media/Photo Transfer Protocol that allows users sync media files with a USB-connected camera or desktop directly.
Honeycomb has API support for Bluetooth A2DP and HSP profiles that is open for developers to develop.
