Georgia to ban based on gender and race
13 March, 2010
Washington DC: Georgia to ban based on gender and race. Georgia is readying itself to a face up the situation that would arise after it introduces a controversial bill banning abortions.
The controversial decision is being criticized. And billboard campaigns have already been unleashed, declaring that the government’s decision has been prompted by the baby’s race or gender. Social activists smell racial conspiracy behind all this.
A bill-board has popped up in Atlanta by the anti-abortion lobby. On this board is shown a young black child. It is understood that efforts are being made to rally support of the black community in opposing this move. It is too early to say whether the large black community mostly slaves brought hundred years back to the US will be convinced by the move. But the whole episode is generating heating debate. Is the government in the name of health care trying to control the growth of black population in America?
The lawmakers will debate this important issue when they prepare to pass this controversial bill banning abortions by the baby’s race and gender. Republican state Rep. Barry Loudermilk, who has authored the bill, said: “I'm excited," said the author of the bill. I think this is one of the most difficult hurdles to face."
However, the opposition to the bill is gaining in strength.
Loretta Ross, national coordinator of SisterSong, an abortion-rights group said: "We're going to go all out to stop the legislation. It would have a chilling effect on communities of color that are already suffering from a lack of health providers." Besides, she is of the opinion that it would drive up malpractice costs.
