Cape Canaveral: Endeavor shuttle launch: NASAa shuttle launch successful. Just before the Super Bowls raptures found a halt, NASA launched Endeavour and six astronauts into the International Space Station.
It was before the sunrise on Monday that the last nighttime shuttle mission rocketed into the orbit with its flash illuminating areas miles around. NASA officials said that weather did not make any barriers for the mission.
"Looks like the weather came together tonight," launch director Mike Leinbach told the astronauts right before liftoff. "It's time to go fly."
Five-manned Endeavour's mission on Space Station is to install Tranquility, a new room that will provide life-support, establish some other machines, toilet and a seven-windowed dome. It is the last major delivery of construction materials to the Space Station. It is expected that there will no more big pieces to be sent into the orbit in the future.
The team that is commanded by George Zamka will reach at the Space Station on early Wednesday.
Yet, there is a huge shuttle mission, it is not at all a good time for NASA. President Obama's plan to scrap NASA's most celebrated moon mission, Constellation Program and Ares Rockets has been strong blow on NASA's future plans.
Dana Hutcherson , the manager in charge of preparing Endeavour for launch, said everyone was thrilled to be a part of the first shuttle launch of 2010.
