8 February, 2010

Chicago: Chicago winter storm: Snowstorm to hit Illinois, Indiana. Heavy snowstorm is likely to hit Chicago and other parts of Illinois, especially in the area adjoining Lake Michigan, late on Monday afternoon. It may continue throughout Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service forecast the city could get eight to 12 inches of snow. The snowstorm may be a bit unusual with situation worsening late on Tuesday, when 40 miles per hour wind is likely to lash it.

Chicago will also experience northeasterly winds. This storm is not connected to the recent blizzard.

Lake Michigan, Lake and DuPage counties in Illinois and Lake and Porter counties in Indiana are likely to see heaviest snow fall. The snow fall will be between six and 10 inches.

Meanwhile, Marylanders are still to recover from the weekend’s blizzard. Weather forecasters warned that another storm is bearing down on them Tuesday and Wednesday with at least five more inches of snow. A strong low-pressure system, moving out of the Midwest, will merge with another off the Mid-Atlantic coast on Tuesday to create the next snow-maker.

It is forecast that Baltimore will be all snow, with some mixed precipitation in Southern Maryland.
