Los Angeles: AR Rahman Grammy award are for soundtrack and best song for a motion picture at Grammy. After Golden Globe and two Oscars, Indian music icon A R Rahman walked into the Grammys night show to collect two awards. 52 Grammy night show praised A R Rahman for his most-appreciated music in Danny Boyle's "Slumdog Millionaire".
Rahman was awarded for both the categories he got nominated.
Awards were for the best compilation soundtrack for a motion picture and the best motion picture song for his "Jai Ho". Gulzar, the lyricist who wrote lyrics of "Jai Ho" shared Grammy Awards with Rahman.
"This is insane, God is great again," an ecstatic Rahman said while collecting the golden gramophones at the Grammy night show.
With Grammy winnings, Rahman has joined a row of greats in Indian music such as Pandit Ravi Shankar, Zakir Jussain, Vikku Vinayak and Vishvamohan Bhatt who have bagged Grammy awards earlier.
In the best soundtrack categories, Indian music maestro overcame the likes Steve Jordan, "Cadillac Records," Quentin Tarantino, "Inglourious Basterds", and the producers of "Twilight" and "True Blood."
Rahman beat Bruce Springsteen for his song "The Wrestler" in the best song for a motion picture to win the award.
