23 November, 2010

By Khabrein.Info Eductational Correspondent,

New Delhi: After Combined Admission Test (CAT) it is the CBSE, which is to conduct All India Engineering/Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE) on line on a limited scale next year.

While the pen-and-paper test will be held on April 24, 2011, the online version of the examination will be held from May 1 to May 15 for a maximum of one lakh candidates on “first come first served” basis.

In 2010 more than 13 lakh candidates appeared for AIEEE throughout the country. In its 10th edition seeking admission to courses in April 2011 the number is likely to go up.

Sale of Information Bulletin will start from December 15 onwards. The online format would be conducted on a pilot scale in 20 selected cities, with a maximum of 5,000 candidates appearing for the test in each city.

AIEEE are held every year to select candidates for admission in various NITs, IIITs, deemed universities and a few other engineering colleges all over the country.

Though the online CAT exam ran into rough weather in its first year in 2009 all measures are being taken to keep the engineering exam free from any trouble.

Incidentally, the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology has not yet ventured into the online examination process.
