November 6: apple app store: Apple store has over 100,000 Apps. Apple has set another record. This time Apple's App Store has achieved another feat when the number of approved applications available for download at the store surpassed the 100,000 mark.

Launched in 1998, the Apple App Store has seen huge growth, becoming the largest online app store. It is not that the company has no competitors in the cut-throat market. Mobile OS platforms like RIM, Android and Nokia (with its Ovi Store) are some of them. They also have opened their own versions of app stores, but none of them are near the Apple Apple App Store both, in terms of the number of downloads and availability of apps.

The Palm Pre, which is considered a major competitor to the iPhone, does not have a store. And it doesn’t offer as much as Apple's. The fact is that the Pre has less than 500 applications for the WebOs platform.

Another company which is considered in the industry worthy rival to the iPhone platform is Google's Android. But it too lacks behind Apple. Its store has around 15,000, which is quite a large amount, but again, it is nothing in front of what Apple offers.
