November 5: Google dashboard for Windows, Dashboard Google and Google privacy dashboard. In order to pacify privacy-conscious critics, Google has unveiled Google Dashboard, a new service that lets you know how closely the Internet giant spy on your lives online.

Once you sign in to your Google account and activate the service, you can see and wonder what you’re watching on You Tube, what you’re chatting to your pals and most importantly, what queries you’ve searched on Google among many other things.

The various Dashboard options that you can customize include Web History, Google Reader info, Profile info, Tasks and YouTube history, etc.

Dashboard, however, cannot peep into whatever you do without having logged into your account. Currently, there are certain Google products use of which doesn’t come under Dashboard surveillance.

The service summarizes data associated with a specified Google account but doesn’t disclose how Google uses this information. Also, Dashboard reveals nothing about cookie-based data Google collects through its massive online ad-serving business.

Alma Whitten, a Google Software Engineer described the service available in 17 languages as a great step towards giving people transparency and control over their data.
