Thiruvalla: Education Ministry in Kerala should have been gone to a Congress Minister, says the Union Minister and Congress leader Mullapalli Ramachandran. Talking to media in Thiruvalla, Ramachandran said that though the Youth Congress used to present resolution demanding allocation of the Education Ministry to Congress, it was often rejected by the state Congress leadership.
Earlier, Youth Congress leaders have requested the Congress leadership to take over the ministry from IUML, which has been handling the department for sometime around in the UDF rule. In a press conference, Youth Congress leaders M. Liju, Vishnunath and Haibi Eden wanted the Congress leadership to undertake the education department.
BJP also demanded Congress handle the Education Ministry. Instantly after the election results, BJP president Muralitharan said that Congress should take on the Ministry from IUML.
However, as usual, UDF set aside the Education Ministry to the Muslim League. IUML MLA P.K Abdurabb sworn in as the Minister for Education. Most of the time in UDF’s rule in Kerala, IUML, a major ally of the front, has been handling the ministry.
